PEP-II Status Report

چکیده
The main design features of the PEP-II asymmetric two-ring electronpositron B Factory collider, built at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, are described. This facility will complete construction in June 1998. The high energy ring, completed in May 1997, has had 3 months of commissioning and successfully stored 0.75 A of electrons. The success of the high energy ring testing validates not only its ring components, but also the injection system, the RF system and the control system all of which are common to the two rings. Invited talk presented at 6TH European Particle Accelerator Conference (EPAC 98), Stockholm, Sweden, June 22-26, 1998. * Work supported by Department of Energy contract DE–AC03–76SF00515 for SLAC, DE-AC03-76SF00098 for LBNL, and W-7405-Eng-48 for LLNL PEP-II STATUS REPORT

Status of PEP-II and BaBar
The SLAC B Factory was approved by President Clinton in October 1993. The inaugural meeting of the detector collaboration was held at SLAC in December 1993, at which time the 9 nation BaBar collaboration began. First funding for the machine construction was released in January 1994, launching the SLAC/LBNL/LLNL PEP-II project collaboration [1]. The detector technical design report was completed...

Pep-ii Status and Future Plans*
The PEP-II B-Factory at SLAC has reached a luminosity of 4.6x10/cm/s and has delivered 94 fb of data to the BaBar physics detector by the end of May 2002. PEP-II has delivered over 309 pb in 24 hours and over 6.35 fb in one month. The accelerator physics issues for these performance levels include electron cloud, beam-beam effects, parasitic beam-beam collisions, and RF beam loading. Upgrades t...
متن کاملNew Fast Dither System for Pep-ii*
The PEP-II B-Factory uses multiple feedback systems to stabilize the orbits of its stored beams and to optimize their performance in collision [1]. This paper describes an upgrade to the feedback system responsible for optimizing the overlap of colliding beams at the interaction point (IP). The effort was motivated by a desire to shorten the response time of the feedback, particularly in the co...
متن کاملStatus Report on Pep-ii Performance
PEP-II [1-9] is an e+ecollider with asymmetric energies (3.1 and 9 GeV, respectively) in a 2200 m tunnel at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The collider produces B mesons to study a particle physics effect called CP violation as well as other physics topics. PEP-II was completed in 1998 with the first luminosity generated in July of that year. The installation of the BaBar Detector was ...
